OnSSI joins forces with TROPOS Networks to provide powerful, cost-effective IP-based video surveillance solutions over Tropos' metro-scale Wi-Fi Mesh Networks.

SUNNYVALE, CA & SUFFERN, NY, 10 November, 2005 – On-Net Surveillance Systems Inc. (OnSSI) and Tropos Networks announced today their intentions to cooperate and coordinate their development efforts aimed at integrating OnSSI's IP-based video surveillance solutions into Tropos' metro-scale Wi-Fi Mesh Networks.

Despite dropping prices of IP-enabled cameras as well as bandwidth, the cost of labor-intensive wiring and maintenance of the IP network is in many cases still prohibitive in setting up a large-scale surveillance system. Moreover, in many metro areas there is no IP infrastructure to begin with, due to environmental conditions. For this reason, combining OnSSI's leading IP-based video surveillance products with Tropos' ubiquitous metro-scale Wi-Fi networks enables extending the surveillance system's reach to basically anywhere in the Wi-Fi coverage area, allowing viewing live video streets, open areas, or any location which was previously impossible or too expensive to wire.

In OnSSI, Tropos found a perfect match for its MetroMesh Partners program. OnSSI's products' open architecture design assures their interoperability with APIs, including Tropos' MetroMesh APIs, streamlining integration and adding crucial features; and the Company's insistence on non-proprietary-only solutions allows the user to choose from the latest, best-in-breed components. This means that users, including police, first responders, traffic control, etc., can deploy any one of OnSSI's NVRs (Network Video Recorders), including the NetDVMS, NetDVR and ProSight series, to view, record and manage streams from all manufacturers' cameras, while eliminating the need to run IP wiring to remote cameras.

Tropos and OnSSI have already joined their technologies in providing quality video surveillance and camera management over Wi-Fi.
