On-Net Surveillance Systems Helps Assess,Verify Med Dispensing to Challenged Girls
Gift of NetDVR Network Video Recorder/Camera Management Platform Allows Vista Maria to Document Drug Administration
Dearborn Heights, MI and Suffern, NY (Feb 3, 2006) – Vista Maria, a community that transforms the lives of girls who have faced abuse and neglect has been awarded a NetDVR network video recorder(NVR)/camera management platform from On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc (OnSSI) to allow Vista Maria to implement a video-based process to assist the medical and psychiatric staff in assessing resident medical compliance.
Vista Maria has an average daily census of approximately 175 resident girls, and 56 children in their community based services. In order to heal their fragile physical and mental health issues, over 80 percent are prescribed multiple medications for treatment.
The NetDVR software suite allows close monitoring and recording of the medication administering process, hundreds of times each day, for both validation and training purposes. The simple, intuitive interface enables instant retrieval of each medication administering instance, archive management and on-the-fly export to any popular video file format. This expensive technology would not have been an option for Vista Maria without the in-kind support of OnSSI.
"Video and audio records of each medication administration session will provide additional assurance that the children are receiving their daily medications and in addition, will provide confirmation of medication compliance beyond the signature of the staff who gave the medication", says Vista Maria Chief Operations Officer Patricia Lynett.
Marge Poupard, Interim Health and Services Director at Vista Maria, adds, "Additionally, this video/audio documentation will be utilized for staff training purposes, specifically in the area of assessing resident response to medication and dealing effectively with resident medication refusals."
Gadi Piran, President of On-Net Surveillance Systems, noted, "We were moved by Vista Maria's request, and more than happy to contribute to this important cause. While most of our systems are used to prevent violence and wrongdoing, Vista Maria joins the many OnSSI systems, in schools, colleges and government agencies around the country, that are used for training and ‘keeping an eye' over those who need it most. It is in such instances where we get the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives using our technology".
